Maintain current technical specifications for handover to various development teams.Ensure that the design model is always up-to-date, reflect all live site designs and reflecting not only the design team’s outputs but the reality of technical implementation (front-end development).Support and collaborate with other members of the creative team.Collaborate with internal stakeholders to brainstorm new features and functionalities and provide feedback for the ongoing product roadmap.Prepare, or coordinate the preparation of, final deliverable design files and specifications for handoff to the ICTD development team, working closely with the front-end developers to visual Quality Assurance (QA) the technical implementation (Figma).Conduct user testing and iterate based on findings, including from internal and external users, across devices and browsers, across UNICEF’s accessibility standards, and aligned with UNICEF’S global brand strategy.Utilize Digital Intelligence efforts to improve and iterate on the User Experience and User Interface of the ecosystem to inform and prioritize design related enhancements,.Support capacity building efforts by providing design documentation, best-practices, and guidance for users of UNICEF’s digital platform.Identify, create, and map User Experiences through user journeys, user flows, site maps and wireframes.Prioritize, coordinate, and deliver design deliverables for feature enhancements.Gather project requirements, estimate deliverables, and prioritize and schedule tasks.Deliver new front-end designs identified in the Platform Roadmap (including bug fixes, feature enhancements, and new features) for the ongoing improvement of the platform.Support Drupal users in the best use of the platform components, templates, and all best practices.Design for, and maintain the global design system, which guides the development of the front-end user interfaces for all platform sites.Input into the Platform Roadmap to guide, prioritize, and conceptualize new platform features, enhancements, and design changes.Summary of key functions/accountabilities: Reporting to the P3 Digital Communication Specialist as part of the Digital Platforms and Governance Team, the incumbent will conceptualize, design, and support the front-end design for the global ecosystem of websites by creating engaging user experiences, intuitive user interfaces and compelling editorial layouts that amplify UNICEF’s work for every child. The Product Designer inputs at each stage and either delivers on these expectations or provides guidance to other members of the creative team. The design work ranges from initial project conception and ideation through strategy, prioritization, and visual design to final delivery and implementation. This role works across the Digital Strategy Section, Division of Global Communication and Advocacy and collaborates with the Division of Information and Communication Technology (ICTD), and other Divisions, and Regional and Country offices to support the global platform and CMS. The DSS is also responsible for the build, management and maintenance of global website properties, as well as providing support to Country, Regional and Headquarters Offices. The Section is also responsible for the building, managing and maintaining of global web platforms and website properties, including websites for Country and Regional Offices, digital governance and capacity building. The Digital Strategy Section manages all global digital channels and digital communications for UNICEF, including in 5 UN languages, global social media channels, and digital multimedia content creation. This position resides within the Digital Strategy Section (DSS), as part of the Division of Global Communication and Advocacy (GCA).
